About the Role

I am currently working with a growing facades subcontractor is seeking a practical and detail-focused Facades Design Manager to join their expanding design team. This is a hands-on position responsible for managing and coordinating a small internal design team, preparing technical submissions, and ensuring all design documentation aligns with project programmes and current UK regulations.

This role is ideal for someone with a solid facades background who enjoys combining technical delivery with team coordination. As the business continues to grow, there is clear scope for the successful candidate to take on additional responsibility and progress within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate a small facades design team.
• Prepare and review technical design submissions and design documentation.
• Ensure design output aligns with project programmes, deadlines, and client requirements.
• Liaise with project teams, consultants, and other stakeholders to support smooth project delivery.
• Oversee design compliance with current UK regulations, including fire and safety standards.
• Maintain a process-driven approach to design management, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail throughout the design workflow.

Essential Requirements

• Strong facades background (beyond general construction or cladding experience).
• Proven experience preparing technical submissions and managing design documentation.
• Experience leading, managing, or coordinating a small design team.
• Ability to work to project programmes and deadlines.
• Up-to-date knowledge of UK building regulations, particularly regarding fire and safety.
• Highly organised, process-driven, and reliable.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience mentoring junior designers.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with internal teams and external consultants.
• Knowledge of a broad range of facade systems, materials, and methodologies.
